At SurvWest, our Subsurface Utility Engineering (SUE) division relies on dynamically skilled, hard-working staff with in-depth utility knowledge, experience with practical applications of such knowledge, and an established background in their market sector. With these and other capabilities, our SUE team covers all U.S. states west of the Mississippi River to provide full SUE services customized for each particular project, as well as complimentary services such as surveying/mapping, real estate, and environmental.
Our Survey division is always in need of experienced Party Chiefs, Survey Technicians, and Professional Land Surveyors to join our dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients. The survey division works on Rail, Transportation (DOT and FHWA), boundary, Aerial, Bathymetric, SUE, and construction survey projects all over the Western US.

· Professional Land Surveyor License in Colorado and/or Texas
· Professional Land Surveyor in other states a plus

· MicroStation and Geopak/Inroads Suite/Open Roads or ACAD Civil 3d survey experience
· Trimble Business Center / Starnet experience and knowledge is a plus

Job Description:
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
· CAD (MicroStation/AutoCAD/OpenRoads) drafting to create and update plan sheets with direction from senior staff.
· Implement CAD standards as required by Department of Transportation (DOT) and various municipalities.
· Communicate with utility companies to obtain and compile existing utility information.
· Support subsurface engineering, utility coordination, survey, and field data collection efforts.
· Analyze and correlate utility records with field data findings.
· Conduct site visits to assist with estimates and verify deliverable findings.
· Review utility plans and construction documents, identify potential conflicts, and support coordination between designers, utility agencies and owners on behalf of clients.
· Attending utility coordination meetings, document meeting minutes, and provide support maintenance for all records & correspondence pertaining to the activities of each utility agency.
· Assist in preparing conflict matrixes and utility reports needed to secure utility clearances.
· Communicate verbally and formally the status of coordination activities to keep the project team informed of all utility activities and processes.
· Maintain utility information databases and complete data analysis.
· Participate in quality assurance/quality control procedures.
· Other tasks as necessary in support of project completion.
Required Qualifications:
· 0-3+ years of technical experience with MicroStation/AutoCAD.
· Ability to travel as needed for client meetings, site visits, quality control, and project estimating.
· Ability to work in an office environment that offers flexibility.
· Must have good communication skills and problem-solving skills.
· Solid time management with the ability to handle multiple tasks at once.
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office (word, excel, outlook) and PDF editing software.
· Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.

Preferred Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
· Registration as an Engineering Intern or Engineer in Training (EI/EIT).

· Able to read utility plans and construction documents.
· Familiar with DOT/Municipality UC processes and procedures.
